About Us

Various club members shooting

The Lionheart Company of Bowmen is an archery club based in Rutland in the East Midlands. We practice various styles of archery including target, field and clout shooting. The Company was founded in 1997 by Richard Drewe, Frank Dyer and Andrew Bubb to focus on the traditional and historical forms of archery and increase awareness of the sport.

We encourage archery as a fun and relaxing social event and are open to new members of all abilities with tuition available for beginners. We hold practice sessions on:

  • Tuesdays 7.15pm – 9.30pm at Whissendine Sports Club
  • Sundays 10.15am – 12.30pm at the Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre

If you are interested in coming to one of our practice sessions or becoming a member, it is best to call or email us in advance – see our contact page for details. For beginners, we recommend coming along on a Tuesday to start with as the style of shooting is more suitable. See our venues page for more information on our shooting facilities and maps showing their locations.
